And here we are… It’s Pichu Time !!
This mod makes Pichu just a liiiiittle overpowered by changing nearly completely his gameplay, like different animations and new attacks with HUGE hitbox !
I’ve made this mod using Crazy Hand v1.31, if you want to try it yourself here’s a link with explanations: https://smashboards.com/threads/crazy-hand-v1-31-character-editing-program.389500/page-20
(It seems very difficult at first, but trust me if a random french guy like me with no experience in modding can do that, you can do it too !)
Here are some changes to Pichu’s moveset:
– Infinite jumps
– New taunts that are pretty funny in my opinion
– Up and Down Smash have a MASSIVE hitbox and can be spamed for some chaotic matches
– Jab has fire properties and stop any knockback, perfect combo with his Smash attacks
– Forward Smash completely changed, summons a fire aura that just one-shot everything near Pichu
– Down Air is now a meteor and burries opponents when they’re on stage
– Down Tilt now makes Pichu grab a giant Bob-Omb for some explosive results
– And more to discover ! I haven’t change everything but it’s still pretty cool for a first big mod like that !
Includes of course that grey skin that replaces neutral.
To install Ultra Pichu, you need DAT Texture Wizard, go to Pichu’s file and replaces “NTCS data and shared textures” with the UltraPichu.dat file !
If you want Pichu’s Bob-Omb to work proprely, you also need Melee.Code.Manager.v4.4.1 (everything is explained in the link above I think) but if you really don’t want to do that, I made a BomblessUltraPichu.dat that dosen’t need Melee.Code.Manager, he just makes an ice move with Down Tilt instead.
Have fun with that OP Pichu !

This is awesome. I made a mod like this with Mario for a friend. I encourage you to keep it up. Mods like this are fun when you want to mess around.
Thank you very much ! I really like these kind of mods too, so I tried to do this with my favorite character. I’m currently learning on how to create and add more custom characters / semi-clones of already existing characters to the game by using M-EX Tool !
That’s pretty cool. If you want to learn more about how to use M-EX Tool, or learn how to mod melee in general, I suggest you join the MEX discord. I learned a lot on how to make mods for melee there and the people there are very helpful with almost any questions you have about the projects you make.
Hey, sorry for that long wait… Just returned here and I learned many things about M-EX Tool with some friends ! I created a brand new character with that and I just learned how to create new skins with model edits instead of just some texture edits
I’m so happy to do so, and my future projet is to create a Melee ISO with 6 or 7 new custom characters !
Also, thanks for the suggestion of MEX Discord, even if I learned only with friends since.
Can you please tell us what we need to do in melee code manager, to get the bob-omb working properly? I don’t see what we need to do in the smashboards link. I’m not lazy, I just genuinely don’t know what to do, I’ve never messed with melee code manager before. for now I’m using the bob-ombbless one
Hey ! No problem, I understand it can be difficult even when we’re motivated.
So, when you launch Melee Code Manager, first click on “Open” at the top right and choose your ISO (vanilla or not). Then, you’ll see you are directly in a menu named “caracters” (you can see it at the top left), in front of it there’s the option “Custom Event Codes”, go in this one and select the two options available (those are Custom Subaction Event and Modified Subaction Event), they should turn green. When done, click on “Save” on the right and your ISO is ready for any kind of mod that allows a character to get an item or heal imself (beacause yes, Ultra Pichu can also heal himself when crouching, but it only works when all of that is activated)
I hope this can help you, ask me if you have any problem ! And sorry for the late response
